HIGH TIDE : FLOATING HOUSE

After my home was flooded for the first time I decided to make a statement:

The agencies that control how and what you build in Lafitte were (depending to whom you ask) very ambigious about what was alowed to be built or rebuilt in the flood plain.  I decided to push the envelope and do something that had only been talked about.  I put a boat/house on dry lande anticipating the eniviatable flood that will come.  My friend sold me a houseboat for one dollar so the experiment could begin.  It was a challenge.  The boat will remain on land and will rise with the tide/flood waters.

When I applied for an electrical pole I was told that getting an electrical permit would not be a problem if the boat was in the water.  "shore power"  I left the agency without the permit.  As I drove home to Lafitte I thought about that statement.  It was then that I decided upon the name.  The boat was infact in the water, it was just low tide.  Thus the name "High Tide."

The reason my friend gave me the boat was because it had sunk an I had to refloat it.  It had sunk once before so the boat was in bad shape.
